What speech problems do you help with?
For Children, some of the problems that I treat using telepractice include: Language Disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Speech Sound Disorders, Voice Disorders, Autism, Early Intervention and Stuttering.
For Adults, some of the problems that I treat using telepractice include: Aphasia, Dysarthria, Laryngectomy, Voice Disorders, Speech and Language Disorders, Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) for Parkinson's Disease, Voice and Communication Disorders for Transgender Clients and Cognitive Communication Disorders.
What is Telepractice?
The term telepractice is defined as using technology to deliver speech-language evaluations and treatment. You may also hear telepractice referred to as "telemedicine", "teletherapy", and "on-line speech therapy". Both adults and children of all ages can participate in telepractice.
Is Telepractice better then in-person therapy?
When telelpractice is delivered with a good understanding of the technology and with plenty of available resources such as diagnostic and intervention web-based tools, it provides a more convenient experience with the same high-quality care for a variety of patients with a wide range of ages and disorders. A common misconception is that telepractice is not as interactive or personal than in-person therapy; however, telepractice has been studied and research has shown it to be as effective and equivalent to in-person treatment.
All forms are web-based using an online intake form management software that enables us to electronically share forms, and receive them back completed & signed electronically before the next appointment.
What do I need to connect for therapy?
All that is needed is a computer with an Internet connection. A completely private and secure video conferencing platform is used, and is free and easy to download. No special hardware or software is required. We will see each other on the computer screen using a tool called Zoom (similar to Skype) accessed through your web browser. The materials used for speech and language therapy are scanned in or web-based. At the click of a button I am able to share them electronically with you and they will appear right on your computer screen.
How can I make an appointment?
Are Telepractice sessions confidential?
Yes, every telepractice session is confidential. I have carefully chosen the online platforms to ensure your privacy. These platforms have the latest SSL encryption in order to meet all federal requirements of confidentiality. HIPPA compliant tools and processes are in place.
When do I pay for services?
Services are paid for on the same day the therapy session occurs.
How much do you charge for services?
What forms of payment are accepted?
I prefer to use Zelle, which is an easy way to send money directly between almost any U.S. bank account (its similar to Venmo). Zelle is free for both of us to use! You can learn more about it here. Also, click here to see if you already have Zelle in your bank's mobile app or online banking. If not, its OK! You can just download the Zelle app and and its easy to sign up.
If Zelle doesn't work for you, I can also accept PayPal and all major credit cards. You will receive an invoice via email to be paid electronically. It is not necessary to be present in person in order to process payment.
Do you take insurance?
Allison Geller M.A. CCC-SLP of Connected Speech Pathology, LLC. is considered an out-of-network provider. All services are self-pay. I do not file with any insurance companies, however, I will gladly provide a monthly invoice that can be submitted to your insurance company for an out-of-network reimbursement if applicable. Appropriate CPT procedure and diagnostic codes will clearly be indicated on the invoice.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
All cancellations must be submitted 4 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. A fee of $50 may be assessed if the following occurs. 1) If cancellations are made less than the required 4 hours or 2) If the client fails to show up for a scheduled appointment. If you reschedule or are late for 3 scheduled appointments within 30 days, the office will reserve the right to discharge the client. Additionally, if you are late for a scheduled appointment, the session will still end at the scheduled time or may be cancelled. If you fail to appear for an appointment (no show) without providing the appropriate advance notification for 2 or more appointments within 30, the office will reserve the right to cancel all pending appointments and to no longer offer services to you as a client.
Why did I start Connected Speech Pathology?
I was invited by a friend to attend a meeting that included health and wellness professionals whose practices and business are shifting to become more aligned with the ways of the modern world. These like-minded individuals are breaking away from conventional medicine and starting their own businesses. They are utilizing technology in their business, turning to natural healing and remedies, and focusing on a whole-body approach to medicine. I have always been focused on this very same philosophy in my own personal and professional life and felt deeply connected to and motivated by what the others in the group were doing. I wanted to contribute in my own way to this wellness revolution and it was with these concepts in mind Connected Speech Pathology was born.
