Articulation disorders in adults are common.

Some causes include hearing difficulties and problems with the alignment of the teeth. Sometimes the articulation problem stems from a childhood issue that was never addressed. Other times the cause is unknown. Speech therapy can help those experiencing articulation disorders.

The Process of Articulation Therapy:

Connected Speech Pathology’s therapists hold master’s degrees in communication sciences and have completed rigorous post-graduate training to provide the best therapy methods available.

Our nationally certified team of speech-language pathologists are experts in articulation and have a strong understanding of the research on various therapy techniques.

Generally speaking, speech pathologists think of articulation therapy as a hierarchical approach to master target speech sounds. If we use a hierarchical method, we begin with an in-depth probe of your production of the target speech sounds and identify the appropriate place in the hierarchy to start treatment, and move forward down the hierarchy pyramid from our starting point.

Since each person is unique and will respond differently to therapy methods, we will create a treatment program tailor-made for your needs and adapt your therapy as needed.

Online Evaluations & Treatment From the Comfort of Your Home

THOROUGH ASSESSMENT

After your free introductory call, your speech therapy begins with a comprehensive assessment by a skilled speech-language pathologist (SLP) who is highly trained to identify articulation disorders in adults.

CUSTOMIZED GOAL & PLAN

At Connected Speech Pathology, we believe that goals should be centered around you. An individualized treatment plan for addressing these issues is then created.

EFFECTIVE TREATMENT

Since each person is unique and will respond differently to therapy methods, your therapist will create a treatment program tailor-made for your needs and adapt your therapy as needed.

  • We have a variety of tools that we can use to identify your specific areas of need. They include standardized and informal tests and an assessment of the mouth’s physical structure and muscles used for speech. Speech-language evaluations may consist of reviewing educational and medical history, and clinical observation. With a proper diagnosis, you can receive articulation therapy to reduce or eliminate articulation issues.

  • Your treatment goals will be set by your speech-language pathologist to create meaningful outcomes that achieve real-life improvement.

Fees start at $75 per session, depending on each meeting’s length in 30, 45, or 60-minute increments. We are a private pay practice and do not accept insurance.

Articulation Therapy Goals

The ultimate goal of speech therapy is to help you improve your production of speech sounds.

Articulation involves coordinated movement of the vocal folds, lips, tongue, and jaw. In articulation therapy, we assist in correcting specific sounds and also on improving the clarity of speech during conversation.

The trajectory of articulation therapy is different for each person, and there is no exact amount of time that applies to everyone. Each of your 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions will be productive and you’ll make measurable progress toward your communication goals!
