National Aphasia Awareness Month is a national campaign to increase public education around the language disorder and to recognize the numerous people who are living with or caring for people with aphasia. I am proud to be an affiliate of the National Aphasia Association. The National Aphasia Association as well as the American Stroke Association websites are great sites to obtain more information about aphasia and stroke. Telepractice is one way to deliver aphasia therapy to individuals with aphasia. Benefits include how convenient it is for both caregivers and the individuals with aphasia. It allow individuals to see a speech language pathologist from the comfort of their home without needing to travel to the clinic or hospital to receive treatment. Services are interactive and have been shown to be just as effective as in-person treatment. If you or someone you know has aphasia and would like to receive treatment using telepractice and you are located in Florida, New York, or Kansas, contact me!
